2024 Seminar on In-depth Study and Implementation of Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization Held

On November 29, 2024, a seminar on deeply studying and implementing Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization was held in Beijing. The seminar, themed "Deepening the Reform of the Ecological Civilization System and Comprehensively Promoting the Construction of a Beautiful China," aimed to conduct discussions and exchanges to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization, fully implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party, and contribute wisdom and strength to deepening the reform of the ecological civilization system and comprehensively advancing the construction of a Beautiful China.
At the seminar, Sun Jinlong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, stated that the "Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Further Deepening Reform and Promoting Chinese-style Modernization," adopted at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee, clearly focuses on building a Beautiful China and promoting harmonious coexistence between humans and nature as an important aspect of the overall goal of further deepening reform. It systematically deploys key tasks and major measures to deepen the reform of the ecological civilization system. Efforts should be anchored on the goal of building a Beautiful China, improving the basic ecological civilization system, perfecting the ecological environment governance system, and enhancing the green and low-carbon development mechanism to ensure the effective implementation of all tasks related to deepening the reform of the ecological civilization system.
Long Guoqiang, Deputy Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, proposed that China's ecological environment protection and ecological civilization construction are continuously shaping new momentum and new advantages for development, and constantly expanding new opportunities and new tracks for participating in international competition. The huge demand for green and low-carbon technological innovation provides broad space for future industrial investment and development. At the same time, the realization of the value of ecological products will further release new development opportunities. Currently, there is great potential to transform ecological advantages into economic advantages such as ecological agriculture and ecological tourism. The beautiful economy is becoming a driving force for local development.
Wang Xin, Director of the Research Bureau of the People's Bank of China, stated that developing green finance is an inevitable requirement to implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and serve the construction of a Beautiful China. It is the only way to support the green transformation of the real economy, achieve high-quality economic development, and promote the building of a strong financial country. Efforts should focus on enriching sustainable financial products and services and initially constructing a multi-level financial product and service system covering green loans, green bonds, green insurance, carbon financial products, and more.
This seminar was hosted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and featured a main forum along with four parallel sub-forums: "New Theoretical Interpretations of Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization," "Promoting Comprehensive Green Transformation of Economic and Social Development," "Focusing on Building a Beautiful China and Deepening the Reform of the Ecological Civilization System," and "International Communication and Discourse Construction of Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization."
