On the morning of December 10, President Xi Jinping met with the heads of major international economic organizations attending the "1+10" dialogue meeting in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi Jinping took a group photo with the heads of major international economic organizations and thanked them for their long-term support of China's modernization efforts.
Xi Jinping pointed out that currently, the century-old changes are accelerating, the world is entering a new period of turbulence and transformation, and is once again at a critical crossroads. Humanity is a community with a shared future; countries are not riding in over 190 small boats, but on one big ship with a shared destiny. They should view each other's development as an opportunity rather than a challenge, regard each other as partners rather than rivals, and make "working together on the same planet," unity, cooperation, and mutual benefit the main theme of the times. China is willing to work with major international economic organizations to practice multilateralism, promote international cooperation, support the development of countries in the Global South, advance an equal and orderly multipolar world, inclusive and beneficial economic globalization, and build a just world of common development.
New Development Bank President Dilma Rousseff, International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, World Bank President David Malpass, and World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala spoke on behalf of the foreign side. They highly praised China's economic development achievements, were optimistic about China's development prospects, and thanked China for its long-term support of international economic organizations. They stated that China's development achievements are remarkable worldwide, especially the human miracle in poverty reduction and its world-leading position in new quality productive forces, fully proving that the people-centered development philosophy upheld by the Chinese government is successful, feasible, and of great significance to the world. China has always been an important engine and stabilizing anchor for world economic growth and a firm defender of multilateralism. China continues to deepen reforms comprehensively, expand opening-up, and achieve high-quality development, providing great opportunities for the world, especially countries in the Global South. President Xi Jinping's proposals for jointly building the "Belt and Road" initiative and three major global initiatives fully demonstrate China's responsibility as a major country and provide an important platform for countries in the Global South to ride China's development express and achieve their own development. Currently, the world economic situation faces many difficulties and challenges, with unilateralism and protectionism rampant. Countries around the world are looking to China, hoping and believing that China will continue to play the most important engine role in world economic growth. Major international economic organizations are willing to closely cooperate with China, uphold multilateralism, safeguard free trade and economic globalization, make greater contributions to promoting common development and prosperity of the world, and jointly create a future of a shared human destiny.
Xi Jinping listened carefully to the speeches of foreign representatives and responded to their concerns on issues such as the world economy, China's economy, and global economic governance.
Xi Jinping pointed out that how to promote the world economy onto a path of strong and sustainable growth is a major issue facing the international community. Each country's economy has its own difficulties and should cooperate to build an open world economic system, adhere to innovation-driven development, seize important opportunities such as the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and low-carbon technologies, create new drivers of economic growth, and support the cross-border flow of knowledge, technology, and talent. Building "small courtyards with high walls" and "decoupling and cutting chains" harms others and is not beneficial to oneself. China has always believed that only if China is well will the world be well; if the world is well, China will be even better. Countries should regard economic interdependence as a good thing for complementing each other's strengths and mutual benefit, rather than as a risk.
