During the speeches, Xi Jinping engaged in in-depth exchanges with everyone, and the atmosphere was lively and active.

After listening to the speeches, Xi Jinping delivered an important speech. He stated that the Party Central Committee makes major decisions and formulates important documents based on in-depth research and extensive consultation with all parties, which is a consistent practice and fine tradition of our Party. The relevant departments should carefully study and absorb the opinions and suggestions on further comprehensively deepening reform put forward by everyone.

Xi Jinping pointed out that reform is the driving force of development. To further comprehensively deepen reform, we must anchor on the overall goal of improving and developing the socialist system with Chinese characteristics and advancing the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity. We should focus on promoting Chinese-style modernization, adhere to a combination of goal orientation and problem orientation, address problems directly, and resolutely eliminate ideological concepts and institutional mechanisms that hinder the advancement of Chinese-style modernization. Efforts should be made to solve deep-seated institutional obstacles and structural contradictions, continuously injecting strong momentum and providing robust institutional guarantees for Chinese-style modernization.

Xi Jinping emphasized that to further comprehensively deepen reform, we must grasp the principal contradictions and the main aspects of those contradictions. We should uphold and develop our basic economic system, build a high-level socialist market economy system, improve the macroeconomic governance system and mechanisms for promoting high-quality development, and perfect systems and mechanisms supporting comprehensive innovation and urban-rural integrated development. This will further liberate and develop social productive forces, enhance social vitality, and promote better adaptation between production relations and productive forces, as well as between the superstructure and the economic base. Economic system reform should start from practical needs and focus on the most urgent matters, deepening theoretical innovation and promoting institutional innovation through solving practical problems. Reforms in other fields should also focus on overall and strategic issues to plan reform measures, achieving a clear and well-structured approach.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the people's aspiration for a better life is our goal. Promoting reform and development ultimately aims to enable people to live better lives. Reforms should be planned and advanced from the perspective of the people's overall, fundamental, and long-term interests, following the Party's mass line in the new era. Attention should be paid to identifying key points and breakthroughs for reform from the urgent and difficult issues that the public cares about, such as employment, income increase, education, medical care, housing, administrative services, childcare and elderly care, as well as life and property safety. More reform measures that address people's urgent needs and public sentiment should be introduced, and more practical actions that benefit people's livelihood, warm people's hearts, and meet public expectations should be taken, so that reforms can bring the people a greater sense of gain, happiness, and security.

Xi Jinping emphasized that reform involves both breaking down and building up. When done correctly, it yields twice the result with half the effort; when done incorrectly, it can be counterproductive or even harmful. We must adhere to maintaining integrity and innovation. No matter how reforms proceed, the fundamental principles such as the Party's overall leadership, Marxism, the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the people's democratic dictatorship must not be shaken. At the same time, we must dare to innovate, improving and implementing reforms that should and can be made, and firmly grasp them once identified. Reforms should pay more attention to systematic integration, plan and promote with a global perspective and systematic thinking, strengthen coordination and complementarity among various reform measures, promote reforms in all fields and aspects to work in the same direction and form synergy, enhance overall effectiveness, and prevent and overcome phenomena of acting independently or obstructing each other. Reforms require careful planning and even more emphasis on implementation. We must adopt a nail-hammering spirit to ensure reform implementation, being proactive as well as steady and solid, clarifying priorities, grasping timing, intensity, and effectiveness, doing our best within our capacity, and not detaching from reality.

Li Ganjie and He Lifeng attended the symposium, along with responsible comrades from relevant departments of the central and state organs, responsible comrades from Shandong Province, representatives from state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, foreign-funded enterprises, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan-funded enterprises, specialized and innovative "little giant" enterprises, individual industrial and commercial households, and experts and scholars.
